Nancy’s Tea Shop showcases vintage china tea sets in addition to cake stands and smaller jewellery stands and select pieces of vintage linen that we find to complement the china. Each cup, plate and saucer contains a piece of British manufacturing and design history.
Nancy’s Tea Shop started as a fun way to turn unloved vintage plates into unique cake stands as presents for my friends. It has grown into an online shop allowing me to share my china finds and creations with fellow china lovers across the world.
Nancy was my grandmother who, despite being born in the same city as me, Swansea, South Wales, lived far away in a small New Zealand town for most of her life. Her love of fine china and baking are her lasting legacy to me and Nancy’s Tea Shop epitomises her love of these things.
Family is at the core of Nancy’s Tea Shop in other ways too. My mum, Sharon, joined me not long after I started the shop. My daily battle with the long queues at my local post office in morning rush hour just wasn’t working and my little flat was bursting at the seams with vintage china. With extra space and time, my mum was willing to take on the demanding task of painstakingly packing and shipping all our orders so that they safely reach their destinations.
